The Boland House Architecture
The Boland House appears to have been built in the early 1840’s according to Michael Bedenbaugh, a noted South Carolina historic preservationist. Previously the house has been reported to have burned and then been rebuilt.

While much of the restoration intensity has been inside the Boland House, efforts to restore outside features have proceeded as well.
Key Milestone
As we continue our journey to restore our historic house, August has seen significant progress on the project. The HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work was completed, and a successful rough-in inspection was achieved.
July 2023 update
Work under the front porch exposed the old beam structure used to support it. Replacement and reinforcement of that structure was necessary, but we retained as much of the old elements as we could.
June 2023 Boland House Restoration Update
The wood structure framing work has been completed at The Boland House. A new staircase configuration in the foyer, floor replacements in the kitchen and old bathroom, several floor joist repairs, new exterior stairs and the sill replacement of the front rain porch have all been accomplished.
Step one – Yard cleanup
It has been six weeks since we began the restoration of the Dominick-Boland property. One of the most notable changes has been in the landscaping of the property. We have removed the overgrowth in scrub trees, wisteria, and ivy that had overtaken much of the yard and house.

As we continue with the restoration of the Dominick-Boland House, we envision this beautiful property as an historic inn, where guests can experience the charm and elegance of a bygone era. We are dedicated to preserving the unique character and history of this property while providing our guests with an unforgettable experience.
The Boland House Update 5-21-2023
During the past two weeks, we had meetings with sub contractors including HVAC, plumbing, roofing, electrical, and framing. We emphasized the importance of preserving the historical features of the house throughout the renovation process.

After years of thinking about doing a historic restoration project, we have finally taken the plunge and purchased the 180 year old Dominick-Boland House in the heart of Little Mountain, SC. As retired individuals, we now have the opportunity to take on this new adventure and restore this beautiful property to its former glory.
