June 2023 Boland House Restoration Update

The wood structure framing work has been completed at The Boland House. A new staircase configuration in the foyer, floor replacements in the kitchen and old bathroom, several floor joist repairs, new exterior stairs and the sill replacement of the front rain porch have all been accomplished. The new foyer staircase is especially notable as it not only improves safety and functionality but also contributes to the overall aesthetic appeal upon front entry to the house.

Masonry repair is an important structural element which remains to be done.  Repointing of mortar in the old chimneys and foundations as well as replacement of badly degraded piers and addition of some new piers will leave us with a sound structural foundation.  In addition, a new roof will be completed shortly to cap it off.

We greatly appreciate the attention to preservation exhibited by our contractors, as their efforts contribute to the substantial restoration of The Boland House.

The evaluation, repair, and reinforcement of these essential structural elements are crucial steps in the restoration process. Our team is committed to maintaining the historic integrity of the old house while enhancing its safety and comfort. We are excited about the progress made thus far and look forward to sharing more updates as our journey continues.
